PRESS RELEASE 21st December 2004 Floriana Nursery Christmas Tournament – Bristow Potteries Cup The Floriana Nursery has launched its Bristow Potteries Cup – Christmas Tournament starting on Boxing Day and ending on New Year’s Eve. During this five-day event there will be 40 teams participating in seven different age categories from 15 football clubs. The Nursery organiser, Mr. Laurence Borg explained, “This is our second experience in tournament organisation with the difference that this year we got more ambitious and broadened the participation with the largest age group. The response was very encouraging and we are already looking into 2005 with the inclusion of foreign teams from Italy”. The event sponsor, Mr. Mark Grima Director of Bristow Potteries Ltd stated, “We strongly believe in community relationship particularly in sports activities. For this event we are introducing a locally produced range of sports awards in ceramic material. This innovative proposition is gaining popularity with a growing demand from various sport related organisations”. The participating clubs are St.Patrick’s, Melita, Hamrun, Naxxar, Kirkop, Attard, Qormi, Zejtun, Gudja, San Gwann, Paola Hibs, Ilves School of Football, Mosta, St.Eias School and Floriana. The age categories incorporate under 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 years of age. Kick-off starts at 9.00am and ends at 4.00 pm, every day. Programme of presentation of trophies by category and date is as follows:- 27thDecember: - Under 7 at 12.00pm and Under 8 at 1.00pm 28th December : Under 11 and Under 13 at 3.00pm 30th December : Under 9 at 13.00 ; Under 10 together with Under 12 at 2.00pm Ceramic trophies will be presented to the first three finalists of every category. Around 700 participants, including coaches and officials, will receive a tournament memento from the event sponsors.
